Debra Rogers

Debra Rogers focuses on assisting people in strengthening who they are by seaming together the person’s past and present, while encouraging the person’s future goals for personal growth. Debra is a graduate of UNT where she received her masters of science in counseling. In addition, she received numerous hours in supervised training with Child Centered Play Therapy for children while earning her degree.

I believe in working with diverse populations of children who have experienced grief/loss using their natural language: play.

Debra also participated in several workshops which focused on using Sandtray Therapy for children and adults who have experienced trauma.

Debra comes from a military family, so it is not surprising that she continued that desire for giving service back by volunteering with MVPN (Military Veteran Peer Network) as a peer group facilitator for 11 plus years. She has also offered counseling services at Veterans Point where she was mentored in military culture by a retired Lt. Col.(Army).

I have extensive experience with counseling combat trauma and MST (Military Sexual Trauma). Similarly, I enjoy working with First-Responder families.

In addition, Debra has counseled civilians who have experienced grief, loss, sexual assault, and childhood trauma/abuse. While working with all of these populations, Debra has received Cognitive Process Therapy and Crisis Response Plan training and now an EMDRIA Trained EMDR Therapist. Finally, Debra appreciates the creative side of individuals and has received many supervised hours in the creative expressive art technique in order to use what she calls, “STAT” : Symbolic Targeting At Trauma. This is where her clients use art to symbolize the meaning and values that trauma has adversely affected in their lives. Debra encourages her clients to draw from all their experiences in order to strengthen who they are as a person and achieve their goals.

Debra has been married over 23 years and has 2 children. She is active in her church as a Veterans Ministry Team Leader in addition to other ministries that she avidly participates in at her church. She enjoys training her service dog, Flint (Labrador/Dane puppy), spending time outdoors with her family, vacationing in the mountains, singing and composing music, creating art (painting), and learning new art skills.
